Eight-week course in Mindfulness Meditation & Relaxation

with Gloria Kamler, M.A.
A Program for Managing Stress

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Relaxation (MBSR) is designed to teach you how to work with stress and pain. This program can provide you with the tools to transform your relationship to pain while enhancing pleasure.
MBSR is modeled on the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., (featured on the Bill Moyers PBS special, “Healing and the Mind.”) The University of Massachusetts Medical Center began MBSR in l979 and has become the provider of a stress reduction program that is respected world-wide. This same Stress Reduction course is now offered in Los Angeles by the Institute for Self-Integration.

What is Mindfulness?

Being mindful is a means of quieting and calming the mind by paying careful attention to your moment-by-moment experiences in a wholly non-judgmental way. As you practice mind-fulness, you learn to gather up your inner resources in order to manage pain, illness and stress. This special form of attentiveness enables you to find new insights into life situations and, in turn, develop richer and more skillful responses to these events. Our lives are full of stress but distress is optional.
Mindfulness encourages deep relaxation, heightened awareness and clarity of thought. You are doing something for yourself that no one else can do for you.

Instructor: Gloria Kamler, M.A.,
is a holistic educator and practitioner who has worked with pain and stress relief for 33 years. As the founder of the Institute for Self -Integration in Santa Monica, CA, she offers a range of holistic therapies including meditation and the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program.
